Boxes Suck

Flexible retail packaging is what you need. Forget boxes and other traditional forms of packaging! (Unless of course you fall into this category of people… “13 Reasons to Never Package Your Product in Stand Up Pouches”)

Corrugated boxes and folding cartons don’t compare to flexible retail packaging for a number of reasons. Some factors pertain to how to market your food product or other items for that matter as well as examples of protective packaging that not only keep the contents fresher for longer but are easy for your customers to fill, store, and ship.

Flexible retail packaging such as stand up bags, flat barrier bags, and even spouted stand up pouches for liquids are made from multiple layers of engineered barrier film that can be printed up to 12 colors where the printed layer is trapped between others so the printing cannot be scratched or marred in any way. This provides stunning shelf presence when marketing your food product so it grabs a consumer’s attention and beckons them to pick it up and learn more.

This type of protective packaging can be filled by hand for a smaller company just starting out as well as fully automated options that will be incorporated by much larger firms. Flexible retail packaging can be manufactured with much lower minimum runs than printed boxes and folding cartons and take up much less space in a warehouse or truck when shipping.

Other things to consider about flexible retail packaging:

  • Requires no additional packaging to maintain freshness (inner liners)
  • Recyclable and landfill friendly
  • Convenient for shipper and end user
  • Colors “POP” compared to boxes and folding cartons
  • Available features such as ziplocks, tear notches, hang holes and pour spouts
